REPORTED DEVELOPMENT
Apache Ossie is an incubating project intended to support exchange of semantic concepts such as measures, dimensions and relationships among data systems.
Its public materials describe work involving conversions between Ossie documents and semantic models or views used by platforms including Microsoft Power BI and Snowflake.
The project remains in incubation and early development. An open interchange format should not be equated with a stable standard or guaranteed lossless portability.
WHY IT MATTERS TO THE MARKET
Interoperability could reduce integration friction in enterprise reporting and AI-enabled analytics. Buyers should still test how meanings, permissions, relationships and transformations survive translation between systems.
