REPORTED DEVELOPMENT
DeSL announced a PLM-integrated Digital Product Passport for fashion, apparel, footwear and retail. Passports are generated from approved PLM data and connected to materials, suppliers, certifications, quality checks, revisions and permissions. AI Document Intelligence is claimed to analyse documents, identify expirations and compare evidence with PLM records.
Commercial availability is supplier-declared; implementation, AI performance, pricing and ROI are independently unverified. The announcement creates no new regulatory obligations. The cited European Commission timetable places textile-specific DPP requirements in Q3-Q4 2027, followed by transitional periods.
WHY IT MATTERS TO THE MARKET
Product information should remain connected to technical and industrial evidence rather than treated as a separate passport document. Declared data, documentary source, approved version, authorisation and publishable information are different stages.
