REPORTED DEVELOPMENT

Glean's Work AI Index 2026 surveys 6,000 digital workers in the US, UK and Australia, interviewed between December 2025 and January 2026. It was public by 23 June, not newly published in October.

Respondents report 11 hours saved weekly through AI automation, an average 6.4 hours supplying context, checking results and correcting errors, 13% perceiving significant organisational-performance improvement, and 53% lacking AI access to essential work information.

The mainly self-reported study does not demonstrate causal financial ROI. The 6.4 hours cannot automatically be subtracted from 11 to produce verified net savings. Some human checks are necessary quality control, not removable inefficiency. Earlier G2 supervision research uses different populations, questions and denominators.

WHY IT MATTERS TO THE MARKET

Gross automation benefits must be separated from work making outputs usable. Information retrieval, context reconstruction, source checks, version handling and corrections need separate measurement.
