REPORTED DEVELOPMENT

Octopus Deploy announced Remote MCP, an HTTP interface intended to allow AI agents to interact with the deployment platform through authorised operations.

The interface can support reading information and, subject to permissions, creating releases, initiating deployments and running operational runbooks. The published documentation separates read-oriented execute_query operations from state-changing execute_command actions.

Availability was announced for Octopus Cloud; Octopus Server support was expected with release 2026.3. OAuth support was described as a future addition, and documentation details should be checked against the actual release.

WHY IT MATTERS TO THE MARKET

AI connected directly to production software creates a different operating risk from an advisory chatbot. Identity, read/write scopes, human approval, action logging and recovery controls should be reviewed before granting execution rights.
