REPORTED DEVELOPMENT

OpenAI and Google Cloud announced integration of OpenAI models and Codex workflows into Google Cloud Model Garden. Google confirms GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are rolling out in private preview to selected enterprise customers. OpenAI expects general availability in the coming weeks. Microsoft remains OpenAI's principal cloud partner.

Google says usage will be billed through Google Cloud Marketplace, can count towards existing cloud-spending commitments and will fall within Flexible Savings Plans. Central identity management, interaction traceability and data controls are also promised.

Private preview is active for selected customers; general availability has not been reached. Zero Data Retention and Confidential Compute are announced options, not yet available through this integration. Actual pricing and ROI have not been independently verified.

WHY IT MATTERS TO THE MARKET

Access to competing models through one enterprise environment makes it important to separate model intelligence, information governance, authorisation, orchestration and economic evaluation. Cloud-spending commitments and infrastructure discounts belong in total investment costs and are not automatically net savings.
