REPORTED DEVELOPMENT

SailPoint announced additional capabilities for governing the identities and permissions of human users, machines and autonomous AI agents during its Navigate 2026 event.

The announcement includes Autonomous Identity Security Posture Management, expanded Agentic Fabric capabilities, Just-in-Time provisioning and additional mechanisms for auditing and controlling access.

The company describes approaches for identifying AI agents, associating them with responsible owners, reviewing privileges and controlling their ability to access enterprise resources.

The maturity of the announced capabilities is not uniform.

Agentic Fabric had previously reached general availability, while other capabilities announced during the October event are scheduled for later availability.

The announcements must not be interpreted as evidence that all new functions are already deployed or independently proven effective.

WHY IT MATTERS TO THE MARKET

As autonomous agents gain access to business applications and data, identity management becomes an important element of enterprise risk and governance.

Organisations need to establish who authorises an agent, which systems it can access, how long privileges remain active and how access can be revoked.

These requirements have consequences for compliance, business continuity, procurement and accountability in AI-enabled operating environments.
